3. Happy House Staff
Happy House offers an adequate number of qualified staff on duty to provide and ensure the safety and health of our children.
Our staff consists of:
- A Director who holds a bachelors degree in Early Childhood Education.
- An Assistant Director who holds an associated degree in Early Childhood Education
- A teacher who holds a bachelor degree in Elementary Education N-6.
- Assistant Teachers/aides/caregivers with assorted degrees or certificates in Early Education, Social Services, CDA for example.
The above teachers, assistant teachers, and care givers are carefully recruited and screened following the regulations set by NYS Office of Family Services. All are qualified by education/experience, finger printing, and health reports. All volunteers are carefully supervised and are subject to the same requirements as the regular staff
Our staff promotes multi-learning and leveled educational experiences. We provide large motor, small motor, cognitive, social/emotional, cultural, and literacy activities to ensure that the children grow in an age appropriate environment.
Our staff is encouraged to participate in and implement the new educational trends offered by the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC), Elmira City School District (ECSD), and to be involved with the courses offered in the Elmira community, courses offered on line and to participate in the on-going training offered by Happy House.
The child-staff ratio:
- The three year old program has a 1:7 teacher to student ratio
- The four year old program has a 1:8 teacher to student ratio
- Elmira College volunteers to help with 1:1 instruction outlined by teacher
