10. Evaluation and Counseling
Communication is important to Happy House. We offer newsletters/home and school links such as family night out activities on a regular basis. Any problems that may develop are dealt with swiftly by contacting the parent/caregiver in person as soon as possible. We often offer a conference in person or by e-mail, note, or phone. We are always finding ways to have positive links between home and school.
Parent conferences are offered on an individual basis two to three times a year but may be initiated at any time by the parents / caregivers or teachers if the need arises.
It is important to Happy House to provide support services to children and families such as social and health related services.
Screening for developmental progress is offered through the services of Comprehensive Interdisciplinary Development Services. (CIDS) CIDS makes referrals to the proper agencies for needed help. E.g. hearing, vision, speech or any other delays.
Our organization always works in conjunction with the Elmira City School District to provide appropriate academic support.
Services have been provided for our students through Elmira College and other private organizations.
We have a licensed registered professional nurse (RN) /child life trained therapist on staff to address all health-related issues.
We work individually with all families to provide the best possible care for each individual student.
We have a wonderful network of community support for any and all issues that may arise for our families.
We continuously educate the staff of programs and services within our community that may best serve our students and their families E.g. Referrals for health insurance, social workers, healthcare, therapists, etc.
