4. Discipline and Supervision of Children
Happy House always disciplines with dignity. We use fair, positive, consistent, clear and age appropriate rules for the children to follow. These rules are posted in each room. The Happy House rules are provided for the children to ensure that self control, respect for their peers and teachers and safety of everyone on the premises is maintained. Teachers help children facilitate positive development by modeling and encouraging expected behaviors, redirecting children to a more appropriate activity, and repeatedly setting clear limits. If a child has lost control or is overwhelmed, we have “ME” places in each room for down time. The parents of children who seem to have continuous difficultly adjusting to the school rules and routines are contacted and a partnership between parent, teacher, and child is formed to find a positive solution to resolve the issue. Corporal punishment is never allowed or condoned.
The supervision and safety of all our children is a priority at all times. It is the duty of all staff members to provide a safe, hazard free facility, classroom, and playground that is carefully monitored and supervised. It is the policy of the Happy House Nursery that no child may be left alone without competent, adult supervision. Happy House Staff is available in the hall ways to assist and ensure that each child is able to transition from car to classroom, classroom to bathroom, and etc.
